The Cubs defeated the Braves tonight 4-2 behind another strong outing by Randy Wells, who pitched 6 innings and gave up 2 runs on 7 hits. Wells has now won 4 straight starts.
Derek Lee hit a two run homerun, his 5th in 6 games, to lead the offense. Aramis Ramirez returned to the lineup, batting 5th, and was hitless in 4 at bats.
The Cubs have now won 6 out of their last 8 games and they seem to be getting hot at just the right time.
What would you do with Jake Fox now that Aramis Ramirez is back? Seems that there is no place for him to play and get regualar at bats. Would you send him back to AAA to keep working on his game or is he too valuable to the Cubs as a pinch hitter/occasional starter?
ReplyDeleteI would keep him in the majors and give him maybe a couple starts a week, allowing Piniella to rest Ramirez, Soriano and/or Bradley.
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like Ramirez is not 100% and probably will not be the rest of the year. Plus, who know what happens the next time he has to dive for a ball. So, having Fox around as insurance and to rest the veterans is a good thing.
